Overview
The Garmin 010-01226-00 is a black box bridge that converts data between a Nexus network and an NMEA 2000 network so instruments, sensors, and displays can share the same sailing information.
It links older Nexus systems into an NMEA 2000 backbone without a manual setup process, and it keeps Nexus and Garmin gear talking cleanly, including support for gWind and gWind Race wind transducers. Connection is straightforward with Nexus, NMEA 2000, and USB in the mix, and the included cabling covers common installs with an NMEA 2000 drop cable (2 m) and a Nexus network cable (5 m).
When you plug it into a computer over USB, it also opens up PC-based sailing tools. Programs like NexusRace, Expedition, Adrena, and SeaTrack can pass sailing-specific functions across Nexus and NMEA 2000, and you can handle software updates, configuration, and calibration tasks through NexusRace using the FDX protocol. On board, it can also pass control functions like Nexus instrument lighting levels, plus race start timers and distance logs, through connected NMEA 2000 equipment.
Key features
- Bridges Nexus network data onto NMEA 2000 and translates data back the other way for mixed-system boats
- Works with Nexus instruments and sensors alongside Garmin equipment, including gWind and gWind Race wind transducers
- Plug-and-play connections between Nexus, NMEA 2000, and USB with no manual system configuration required
- USB connection supports NexusRace, and enables PC software like Expedition, Adrena, and SeaTrack to exchange sailing functions across both networks
- Supports software updates over NMEA 2000 and device configuration, calibration, and updates via USB using the FDX protocol
- Allows Nexus instrument lighting levels to be controlled from NMEA 2000-connected equipment
- Enables race start timer and distance log functions from NMEA 2000-connected Garmin equipment

Installation and setup
Mount the unit where cabling can reach both networks cleanly, such as behind the nav station, inside the electronics bay, or near the Nexus bus. Plan for strain relief so the Nexus network cable and the NMEA 2000 drop cable are not carrying vibration loads at the connectors, and leave enough access to use the USB port when you need PC configuration or calibration.
On the NMEA 2000 side, it installs as a drop off the backbone using the included T-connector, so it fits into standard NMEA 2000 layouts. On the Nexus side, it connects directly into the Nexus network cabling, acting as the translator between the two systems.
Compatibility and system integration
This bridge is meant for boats that already have Nexus instruments and sensors and want those readings available on an NMEA 2000 network. It is also useful when your Garmin displays, instruments, or other NMEA 2000 devices need access to sailing data coming from Nexus gear, while still keeping Nexus network functions available where supported.
If you plan to use PC racing or performance software, place the unit where a laptop can be connected by USB without pulling on the wiring, since that connection is what enables NexusRace configuration and calibration workflows.
Use cases on board
This is a practical fit for sailboats that are modernizing electronics in stages, especially when a Nexus wind package is staying in place while an NMEA 2000 backbone and newer displays are being added. It also suits racers who want race timers, distance logs, and sailing-specific software tools to remain part of the onboard workflow while moving data across both networks.
